A new ‘Prison Break’ fundraising idea has been suggested to me by a charity called ‘Social Eyes’ who support visually impaired children, young people and their families (more information can be found at http://www.social-eyes.org.uk/).All profits will be split 50/50 between Social Eyes and Milton Keynes Rugby Club.
The ‘Prison Break’ idea involves starting in the cells at Newport Pagnell Police Station (who have agreed to ‘lock’ us up) and then seeing how far you can escape to (there will be prizes for finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd). Sponsors can either sponsor a set amount or per mile.
The rules are simple; in teams of 2/3, once you have ‘escaped’, you will have up until midnight to get as far away as possible without spending any money! (You can obviously stop before midnight if you wish). If you want you can have a planned getaway using an accomplice on the outside and prior planning is allowed. You will be required to take a photo of you at your final destination as proof for your sponsors as to where you ended up!
Social Eyes have run an event similar in the past and some people managed to blag some train tickets to Sheffield. Reports from an event held in South Wales mentioned people getting as far as France!
The day is planned to take a place on Saturday 21st August 2010 meeting at 8am. There will be some press photography first before making your escape at 9am. Please remember you will need to make your own arrangements for getting home again!
If you’re interested in giving this a go and raising lots of dosh for Social Eyes and Milton Keynes Rugby Club then contact Dave Matthews on 07837 334608 or via email- dave.matthews.mk@hotmail.co.uk. Everyone’s support in this would be much appreciated and it is for an extremely worth while cause (and lots of dosh for the club).
