Our Story
Milton Keynes Rugby Union Football Club traces its roots back to the mid-1870s, when Wolverton RUFC was first formed. After a pause following the First World War, the club was re-established in 1958 and later adopted the Milton Keynes name in the early 1970s as the new city grew around it. This gives the club more than 150 years of heritage, 67 years in its modern form, and over five decades as MKRUFC.
Now based in Emerson Valley, the club has become a welcoming hub for rugby in the area. With pathways from Minis and Juniors through to the Academy, senior rugby and social formats like Touch Rugby, MKRUFC offers something for players of all ages and abilities. Whether someone is new to the sport or returning after time away, the club provides an inclusive place to learn, develop and enjoy rugby.
The club continues to thrive thanks to the dedication of its players, parents, volunteers and supporters. Whether you want to play, get involved behind the scenes or simply enjoy the match-day atmosphere, you’ll always find a warm welcome and a strong sense of community at MKRUFC.

Part of MK Alliance
A collective of local clubs committed to improving access to sport and creating positive experiences for players of all ages. Together, the MK Alliance works to strengthen community pathways, support families, and ensure every young person in Milton Keynes has the opportunity to enjoy high-quality, inclusive sporting activity.
Working Together for Milton Keynes
MKRUFC is a proud member of the Milton Keynes Sporting Alliance, a group of local clubs working together to strengthen sport across the city. The Alliance brings shared values, shared standards, and a united approach to developing young people through positive sporting experiences.
Creating Clear Player Pathways
By collaborating with other leading clubs, we help create clearer pathways for players moving from school sport into club sport and from junior teams into senior rugby. The focus is on accessibility, opportunity, and providing families with more ways to get involved.
Growing Participation Across the City
The Alliance also supports joint initiatives, coach development, and cross-club projects designed to grow participation across Milton Keynes. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected sporting community for the next generation.
